JOB SUMMARY:

The Technical Sales Associate works under the instruction of the Technical Sales Supervisor, in providing administrative support and determining technical solutions to meet customers’ needs. Working in a team environment, the job holder will ensure that service excellence is provided to customers at all stages of the sales process.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and issue quotations to customers, including required technical information and solutions available.
  • Receive, acknowledge and process customers’ orders.
  • Respond to customers’ enquiries in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Effectively interact and communicate with customers, providing required information and resolving service-related issues in a timely manner as required.
  • Ensure customers are up to date on key orders placed.
  • Review Tenders and project Requests for Quotation (RFQs).
  • Obtain quotes and prepare requisitions for buyouts / purchase orders.
  • Keep current with Product and Technology upgrades and maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of all Products and Services included in the Company’s Business Unit Portfolio.
  • Keep abreast of the ordering criteria based on the factory requirements.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with customer base in order to support requests for proposals, provide technical consultation to aid in decision making and resolve customer issues.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with factory personnel who support sales, customer service and manufacturing.
  • Undertake duties relating to the order management cycle including entry, status tracking and reporting, expediting and change management.
  • Develop and maintain excellent professional relationships with all customers and suppliers.

SECONDARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accompany Senior Technical Staff on field visits to gain better understanding of customers’ needs and to build partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Conduct internal training sessions as required (based on new knowledge gained).
  • Assist with marketing and strategic planning as required.
  • Assist with developing and conducting effective demonstrations/seminars and deliver technical information on all products and services in direct line of responsibility.
  • Assist with assessing customer requirements relating to products and services and develop proposals to provide these products and services.
  • Interact with other internal teams to optimize team performance, identify opportunities for new business, identify opportunities for work process improvement, ensure open communication between group members, as well as support improvement of internal work practices (Order entry, contact/project management customer service, etc).
  • All other reasonable and related responsibilities as assigned.

REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Technician’s Diploma in a relevant Engineering Discipline or equivalent, from an Accredited Institution.

Experience:

  • A minimum of Two (2) Years’ experience in providing technical / administrative support in a service-based projects environment.

Knowledge:

  • Basic to intermediate knowledge of RFQs and principles of project management.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Suite.
